Cave Symbols in Sandplay Therapy

Abstract

|
In this study, the geological characteristics of caves, as they are represented in myths, fables, literature, The Bible, as well as other cave symbols were investigated. In a sand box, a boy and girl, between 8 and 12 years old the current researcher has tried to explain the symbolic meanings related to caves, as expressed by the subjects during sand play. Caves represent a number of different things in the human experience, they are a place to live, a hiding place and a shelter, as they in nature. Caves are a part of the earth and their form is analogous to that of female genitalia and the womb. With the symbolic place where gods and human meet. It can be seen that caves placed in the sanmeanings of the archetype of the matrix as a source of life, caves symbolize the principles of maternity and femininity. A cave is a space of death, regeneration and passage rites. Here, the act of entering a cave symbolizes the death of the mind, and the act of leaving of a cave can symbolize a rebirth. In general, caves have been widely used as a tomb and to symbolize negative aspects of the human experience. In the Middle Ages, caves were a symbol of a human heart as the ¡°center¡± of the mind, based on which, caves are also seen as a symbol of the universe and the world, as well as a d box can often have various symbolic meanings.
